Peter has played a pivotal role in the transformation of the public sector, as the Secretary General of the Capital City Council of Budapest.

 

While having been an assistant professor at the Institution of Hungarian School of Public Administration, he was assigned several strategic tasks in different positions at national and local government levels. Besides he was appointed as Chief Director & Nominated Deputy State Secretary, he also acted as Head of the Office for Regional Policy and Public Administration Reform.

Later, he was invited as senior strategic advisor to the national government and acted as President Management of Hungarian regional policy at the Regional Development Office, and later Chief Executive of the Regional Development Holding. Besides his comprehensive tutorial, research and public writer activities, he also    served as the Lord Mayor's chief strategic advisor in Budapest.

Péter, as a Member of Board of Directors of Budapest Wholesale Market Ltd. takes part in the Management of Company, furthermore as a Member of the Working Group of Municipality of Budapest works for the preparation of Application of Budapest City to Bloomberg Philanthropy Foundation for Call of Local Challenges 2025.

 

2022- As a Member of Working Group of Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Policy of Hungary is taking part in the strategic planning and programming for functional urban areas and Budapest Region.

 

2021- As an External Expert of Municipality of Ajka City is taking part international projects planning, programming and implementation, as like as the development of ‘Krypton House’ Project supported by European Commission under the umbrella of New European Bauhaus Program; urban mobilities projects under the umbrella of EIT Urban Mobility Program; Revitalization of Torna Greek with nature based solution supported by National Government of Hungary under the umbrella of Hungarian Cohesion Policy.

 

2019-2020 As a Lead Expert of City Consult Co. has been taking part of Strategic Planning of Municipality of Budapest.

 

2013- 2019 As a member of Transnational Planning Working Group for European Territorial Cooperation Programs 2014-2020 (CENTRAL 2020 Transnational Program / Danube Transnational Program / INTERREG EUROPE Inter-regional Program) takes part in the planning and programming of Operational Programs, furthermore in the implementation and monitoring of these programs.

 

2013 As a member of the „BUDAPEST HUB” Working Group beside the Ministry of Economy of Hungary took part in the preparation and publication of 'RUNWAY BUDAPEST 2.0.2.0 – A STARTUP CREDO' Program.

 

2010 - 2019 As a Senior Administrative Consultant of new elected Mayor of City of Budapest takes part in the policy making in the city strategic planning and programming in the development affairs, regarding to the issues of public administration system and international relationship.

 

2011 As a special expert took part in the preparation of “Territorial Agenda 2020” supporting the Hungarian Presidency of EU.

 

2012 - As an International Curricula Development Expert for Canadian Government’s Program in Ukraine on “Extension Program of Regional Development and Regional Governance”, helped the Ukrainian partners to design and implement a national training program on regional economic development for civil servants in national, regional and local level, and to institutionalize the monitoring and evaluation system for implementation of regional development plans, furthermore to review the national strategies and regulations for the investment-oriented regional economic development.

 

2010 - As an external expert of the government’s regulatory reform program took part the networking and research activities of UNDP Regional Centre for Public Administration reform in Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States focusing on the state’s regulatory role vis-à-vis the economy and society.

 

2010 -As an International Expert of Committee of Regions / COR - European Union for the preparation of COR Opinion on “The implementation of the Eastern Partnership initiative in Ukraine and Development of cooperation between local and regional authorities in Ukraine and the EU” made written papers and took presentations.

 

2010 - As the leader of Hungarian Partner of EU Southeast Transnational Cooperation Program - AUTOCLUSTERS Project, managed - together Slovakian Lead Partner and Hungarian educational and research institutions, sub-contractors and other bodies active in Automotive Industry and international networking - the regional partner activities in West-Pannon Region/Hungary.

 

2010 - As the member of EU Southeast Transnational Cooperation Program Steering Committee took part in FIDIBE Project – “Development of innovative business parks to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the SEE Area” concerning by his partner activities to Regional best practice analysis in West-Pannon Region/Hungary.

 

2009 - 2010 As a senior expert took part in the research and policy development project on ‘Cohesion support for Local Development – Best practice and future policy options’ by the contract between European Commission DG REGIO and ADETEF (F) in association with AEIDL (B).

 

2008-2009 As the Project Manager Officer managed the implementation of SEED Money Fund for Norway Fund in Hungary.

 

2009 - As an invited lecturer took part in ‘Kosovo Good Governance Program 2009’ for Leadership Training Course for elected leaders and top managers of Kosovo’s national and local governments organized by CEU – OSI –MFA.

 

2009 - As an International Expert of Committee of Regions / COR - European Union for the preparation of COR Opinion about the EC Communication on “Eastern Partnership” made written papers and took presentations.

 

2007 - As an International Expert of Committee of Regions / COR - European Union for the preparation of COR Opinion about the EC Communication on “EU – Ukraine Partnership Initiative” made written papers and took presentations.

 

2005-2009 As an International Expert for Canadian Government’s Program in Ukraine on “Regional Development and Regional Governance”, published some papers and made documents, took presentations for national officials, organized seminars and workshops in the pilot regions, helped the local partners for planning and programming of Regional Development Concept. Supported the establishment of regional state administration for regional development affairs.

 

2005-2009 As the Head of Consulting Core of “Europrosperitas” 2010 Foundation took part the organization of some Hungarian Euro-regional Partnership, established the CEE Network of MOT.

 

2004-2005 As the President of Regional Development Office of Hungary managed the preparation of Hungarian Regional Development Concept until 2020, which was accepted by the Hungarian Parliament in 2005. Leaded the establishment of regional public administration by the principle of EU for the regional policy and managed the coordination the policy implementation activities of de-concentrated units of state administration.

 

1998-2004 As the Chief Counsellor of Prime Minister’s Office of Hungary managed the Hungarian Public Administration Reform Programs, furthermore as the Representative Member of Regulatory Reform Committee of OECD took part international regulatory reform programs.

 

1995-1998 As the Director of Hungarian Regional Development Centre managed the establishment of new institutions for regional development policy, regarding to European Accession, furthermore as the PAO of PHARE and PHARE CBC Programs in Hungary managed the implementation of EU Pre-Accession Programs.

 

1989-1992 As the General Secretary of City Council of Budapest, managed the public service delivery in the Capital of Hungary.
